Americans Win Goaltending Duel

West Valley City, Utah-The Allen Americans won their second straight road game, beating the Utah Grizzlies on Saturday night, 3-2 in a shootout at the Maverik Center.

Riley Gill and Ryan Faragher put on a goaltending clinic with big save after big save on both ends of the ice. Gill stopped 38 of 40 shots including several big stops in the final seconds of overtime. Faragher, who was the backup on Friday night, stopped 35 of 37 shots for Utah.

Aaron Gens and Michael Brodzinski both scored their first goal of the season in regulation for Allen. Gens goal came with 3.2 seconds left in the third period to give Allen a 2-2 tie and send the game to overtime.

"It was a great pass from Chad Costello and I knew I had to get the shot off quickly," said Aaron Gens. "Both goalies were great tonight, but Riley was a little better."

The Americans scored both goals in the shootout as Greger Hanson and Matt Willows both found the back of the net. Riley Gill denied both Mathieu Aubin and Erik Higby as the Americans moved to within a game of .500 on the season with a record of 6-7-0.

The Americans and Grizzlies will meet two more times this season with Allen returning to the Maverik Center on the day before Thanksgiving. Utah will make their only Allen appearance on New Year's Eve.

The Americans next game will be Tuesday morning in Missouri for a 10:30 AM start time. Allen returns home to face the Rapid City Rush on November 19th. www.allenamericans.com.
