Allen Americans News Release

Indianapolis, Indiana - The Allen Americans beat the Indy Fuel on Sunday afternoon by a score of 5-3, to sweep the five-game road trip and sweep the season series with Indy.

Greger Hanson was named the number one star of the game by scoring twice for Allen, with his 31st of the season, coming 4:16 into the hockey game on the power play with the lone assist going to Chad Costello. Allen outshot Indy 17-7 in the opening period.

Allen scored two goals in the second period. David Makowski netted his 15th of the season, coming on the man-advantage from Spencer Asuchak and Wade Macleod at the 5:26 mark. Bryan Moore scored his 21st just a little over 30 seconds later from Greger Hanson and Joel Chouinard. Indy's Matt Rupert netted his 15th to cut the Americans lead to 3-1 after two periods of play, with the Fuel outshooting the Americans 20 to 8 in the second period.

Wade Macleod scored his first of the year, and first since signing with Allen, at 8:07 of the third period to give Allen a 4-1 lead. The next seven minutes led to some sloppy play by the Americans, giving up two shorthanded goals to Michael Neal, his 3rd and 4th of the season, to cut the Americans lead to 4-3. Indy pulled starter Jake Hildebrand in the final 90 seconds to get the extra attacker on the ice, however it was Greger Hanson spoiling the Indy come back party with his second of the game and team-leading 32ndof the season, to give Allen a 5-3 lead and the victory over the Fuel on Sunday afternoon.

"This was a disappointing effort by us," said Americans forward Greger Hanson. "We left Riley (Gill) out to dry with some bad decisions that led to two shorthanded goals. I don't blame him for being upset. He played great and we didn't do our part."

The Americans finished 2 for 4 on the power play while Indy was 0 for 1. The Americans outshot Indy 44 to 38 for the game.
