Americans Hang On to Perfect Home Record in Shootout

KENNEWICK, WA - The Americans were able to remain perfect at home in a tightly contested game against the Lethbridge Hurricanes, 6-5!

In the first period, Lethbridge came out of the gate hot. Jesse Zaharichuk scored his first goal of the game just four and half minutes into the period. Maxwell James would answer for the Americans late in the period on the power play, tying up the game to end the first 20 minutes.

The second period consisted of the teams going back and forth on goals, fighting to be on top. Zaharichuk would score his second of the game, just a minute into the period. Maxwell James would respond with his second just under three minutes later. Lethbridge would respond with a goal by Brennan Menell just 30 seconds later. Zaharichuk would finish his hat trick at the 9 minute mark to put the Hurricanes up 4-2. Parker Wotherspoon would respond on the power play to bring the Americans within one to end the second period.

In the third, Parker AuCoin would net his first of the season to tie the game again with 6 and a half minutes remaining. Lethbridge responded with Tyler Wong scoring a minute later. Nolan Yaremko would then finish off a hard fought goal to tie the game with 2 minutes remaining and we would go to overtime.

After an uneventful overtime, we went to a shootout. Lethbridge shot second and would score their first two. The Americans missed their first shot, but Geekie, Rasmussen, and AuCoin would all score to win the game for Tri-City.

The Americans are back in action next week on October 14th against the Kamloops Blazers!
