Allen, Texas - The Allen Americans, ECHL affiliate of the San Jose Sharks, beat the Wichita Thunder on Wednesday night, 4-1 at Allen Event Center in front of 3,801 fans.
After giving up the first goal of the game to the Thunder, the Americans bounced back with four unanswered goals in a 4-1 victory over rival Wichita. Eric Roy opened the Americans scoring late in the opening period netting his 14th of the year. The goal was Roy's 100th career point.
Bryan Moore had the lone goal of the second period with his 19th of the season. A two-on-one odd-man rush resulted in the lead goal for Allen. Jared Bethune had the first of two helpers on the night. The Americans outshot Wichita 16 to 7 in the second frame.
Thomas Frazee scored his third with Allen, and 14th of the season at 3:11 of the third period setup by Jared Bethune. The score would remain that way until the final minute of play when Zach Pochiro fired a puck into the open Wichita net. It was a power play goal for Pochiro, his 17th of the year unassisted.
Jake Paterson was the best player on the ice stopping 32 of 33 Wichita shots. It was Paterson's first start since having his six-game winning streak snapped in Colorado.
The Americans return to action on Friday night against the defending Kelly Cup Champion Colorado Eagles. Tickets are available online at www.allenamericans.com. Friday night is Autograph Friday with Mike Gunn, Dalton Thrower, Josh Thrower and Tyler Parsons signing after the game.
