St. Paul 6, Sioux City 1 - Box Score

The St. Paul Saints jumped off to a hot start and rode a strong performance from starting pitcher Jake Matthys to take a 6-1 win against the Sioux City Explorers.

Matthys (5-3) threw eight innings and allowed a single earned run on just two hits while striking out four batters. The Explorers' lone run came in the bottom of the second inning when SS Nate Samson scored on a sac fly from C Dylan Kelly.

Offensively for the Saints, CF Kyle Barrett and RF Max Murphy each went 2-for-5 with a pair of runs. LF Burt Reynolds and 2B Zach Walters each added two RBIs and 1B Brady Shoemaker hit his sixth home run of the season.

Wichita 5, Lincoln 2 - Box Score

The Wichita Wingnuts knocked off the Lincoln Saltdogs 5-2 thanks to one big offensive inning.

Lincoln scored the opening run in the bottom of the second inning when 2B Angel Reyes singled home LF Brandon Jacobs. But the Wingnuts took control of the game in the top of the eighth inning. 1B Abel Nieves singled in 2B Logan Watkins and CF Zach Nehrir scored on the same play thanks to an error. After a pitching change, LF Tony Thomas (2-for-5) blasted a two-run home run.

Later in the inning, DH John Nester (2-for-4) scored as RF Nick Rotola (2-for-4) singled to give the Wingnuts a 5-1 lead.

3B Christian Ibarra hit a solo home run in the bottom of the frame but that was the final run of the night.

Sioux Falls 7, Winnipeg 4 - Box Score

The Sioux Falls Canaries powered out to an early lead and made it stand up for a 7-4 win against the Winnipeg Goldeyes.

The Canaries opened the scoring with two runs in the bottom of the second inning as DH Jabari Henry (2-for-5) hit an RBI single and scored on a sac fly from 2B Mitch Glasser (2-for-3). 1B David Bergin, who went 5-for-5 in the game, singled home a run in the third, LF Jordan Smith (4-for-4) did the same in the fourth and Glasser followed suit in the fifth to push the lead to 5-0.

In the sixth, SS Matt McMann lifted a sac fly to score C Tyler Baker and, in the next at-bat, CF Reggie Abercrombie (3-for-4) hit a two-run home run. But Bergin added two more runs for the home team in the bottom of the frame with a single.

DH Grant Heyman's solo home run in the top of the ninth was the final run of the night,

Chicago 10, Texas 6 - Box Score

The Chicago Dogs racked up 16 hits and turned them into 10 runs in their 10-6 win against the Texas AirHogs Wednesday night.

Seven different Dogs recorded hits in the game and four of them had multi-hit games 2B Rubi Silva turned in a tremendous performance at the plate as he went 4-for-5 with a double, two triples, four RBIs and three runs scored. RF Jonathan Moroney also had a great game offensively as he went 4-for-6 with two RBIs and a run scored.

3B Matt Dean went 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI and 1B Trey Vavra went 2-for-4 with three RBIs including his 11th home run of the season.

For Texas, CF/LF Dillon Thomas went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and 2B Du Xiaolei went 2-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored.

Kansas City 8, Cleburne 3 - Box Score

The Kansas City T-Bones scored three runs in the top of the first inning and never trailed as they topped the Cleburne Railroaders 8-3.

1B Noah Perio Jr. pushed the first run across with an RBI single and then he scored in the next at-bat when SS Taylor Featherston blasted a two-run home run. Three T-Bones, including Perio Jr. and Featherston, had a pair of hits and RBIs on the day. C Todd Cunningham was also among that group as he went 2-for-3 and he also scored twice.

For the Railroaders, 3B Chase Simpson went 3-for-4 and SS Angel Rosa went 2-for-4 with an RBI and three runs scored.

Gary SouthShore 8, Fargo-Moorhead 2 - Box Score

The Gary SouthShore RailCats opened the game with six runs before the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks found the scoreboard and went on to claim an 8-2 win.

The RailCats' DH Ronnie Mitchell doubled in two runs in the top of the first inning to kickstart the game. In the third, 1B Alex Crosby hit a lead-off home run and in the fourth he drew a bases-loaded walk to add to the lead. In the fifth, Mitchell popped a sac fly to right to plate 3B Randy Santiesteban (2-for-4) and C Wilfredo Gimenez singled home RF Colin Willis (3-for-5).

1B Chris Jacobs (2-for-3) scored the RedHawks' first run with a lead-off home run in the bottom of the inning but the home team's only other run came in the ninth when LF Brennan Metzger scored as 3B Leobaldo Pina bounced out

LF Tillman Pugh added a two-run home run for the RailCats in the top of the final inning.
