St. Louis Ambush News Release

Kent, WA -- - The Tacoma Stars defeated the St. Louis Ambush 9-5 Sunday afternoon at the ShoWare Center in Kent, Washington. The victory improved Tacoma's record to 10-7, while the Ambush dropped to 1-18.

The Stars got off to a 4-1 lead in the first quarter, thanks to goals from Joseph Cairel, Micheal Ramos, Raphael Cox and Chase Hanson. The lone goal for the Ambush came from Richard Schmermund. By halftime, Tacoma had incresed their three-goal lead to four on second quarter tallies from Cairel, Dan Antoniuk and Evan McNeley. St. Louis got two goals from Victor France. The Stars enjoyed a 7-3 lead as the teams retired to the locker rooms for the halftime break.

The visitors attempted a comeback in the third period with goals by Lucas Almedia and Vadim Cojocov, but the home team followed with goals by Alex Megson and another by McNeley to make the score 9-5 stars at the end of the third quarter. Neither team managed to find the back of the net in the final period, resulting in a final score of 9-5 for the Stars at the final buzzer.

Ambush Head Coach Tony Glavin looked for positives in the loss. "We had a better second half than first," Glavin said. "I thought we finished on a positive note, The guys came out and played hard. We just gave up too many goals in the first half. Overall I was please with the effort."

Glavin also pointed to the rise of Ambush midfielder Victor France, who dealt with injuries the first part of the season, but has become a key part of the team's offense in recent games. France had two goals in Sunday's contest against Tacoma, and has had 10 goals in the month of February.
