Amateur Baseball schedule at Champion Window Field Announced

Florence, KY - The Florence Freedom are proud to announce Champion Window Field as the host to several high school and college games again this year. John Morrell Meats has signed on as the title sponsor of the 2008 amateur baseball schedule.

Opening day for amateur ball is March 28, 2008 with Simon Kenton taking on Gallatin County with a 5:00pm start.

Northern Kentucky schools including Ryle, Boone County, Beechwood, Covington Catholic, and Highlands are scheduled to play this spring at the home of the Freedom. "After last season, the players and coaches seem to really enjoy playing on the field," said Dan Guttridge, Director of Amateur Baseball, "I'm happy to see they are so receptive again this year."

Schools from Ohio and Indiana are also playing in Florence this summer in the first annual Florence Freedom Invitational. Elder, LaSalle, Lawrenceburg and East Central will all take the field for the invitational April 25th - 27th.

Northern Kentucky University (NKU) will start their home games at Champion Window Field on Saturday, March 29th with a series against Kentucky Wesleyan beginning at noon. The 2008 season marks the third year the Norse are playing all their home games in Florence. Admission to all amateur games this year is $5 for adults, $3 for children, and children 4 and under is free. For the 9th Region tournament, admission will be $7 for adults and $5 for children. Tickets can be purchased at the box office at Champion Window Field.

Florence Freedom is a member of the Frontier League, a 12-team Independent Professional Baseball League established in 1993. The Freedom play a 96 game schedule with 54 home games between late May and early September.
