Amarillo Bulls Weekend Preview

AMARILLO, TX - For the second straight week, the Amarillo Bulls are up against it in terms of the schedule.

The Bulls play three games in three nights with the only difference being there is no travel involved. It starts tomorrow (Friday) night with the first of two versus the Odessa Jackalopes at the Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center at 7 pm. After the two teams conclude their two games on Saturday, the Shreveport Mudbugs visit Amarillo for a single game on Sunday also at 7 pm.

The Bulls and the Jackalopes are meeting for the 4th and 5th times in a row. After the Bulls won the first one 5-3 at Ector County Coliseum last Thursday, Odessa has captured the next two including last Saturday's 6-3 come from behind effort.

There is a lot on the line for both of the games as the two teams trail the Corpus Christi Icerays by three and four points respectively for the fourth and final playoff spot in the South Division. The IceRays are off this weekend. The Bulls and the Jackalopes are also within striking distance of the Shreveport Mudbugs who have dropped five in a row.

It's the return of $5 Friday Ticket promotion available for Silver Section Seats Only. Those tickets can be purchased both at the Bulls Office located at 301 South Polk, by calling 242-1122 or at the Civic Center Box Office and online at www.amarillobulls.com.

When the two teams hit the ice on Saturday night at 7 pm it's a T-shirt giveaway promotion presented by The Peoples Federal Credit Union. The first 500 fans receive a cool Bulls t-shirt at the door.

The Bulls will close out their weekend series on Sunday facing Shreveport with a Buy One Get One Free Ticket Promotion available at all Ticket locations. The puck drop is set for 7 pm.

Defenseman Jeff Solow was chosen as the NAHL defenseman of the month for his hard work netting two goals and nine assists for 11 points in nine games. The Naples, Florida native hasn't been alone in putting up the offense as George Mika led all NAHL point getters in December with seven goals and eight assists for 15 points. Forward Steven Ipri has been the hottest Bulls player with 9 points in nine games, followed by Alex Truscott and defenseman Phil Fromberger.

Forward Zach Zech has been solid for Odessa with five goals and six assists for 11 points in his last 9 games. His linemate Chase Thudium has 11 points in eight games, while Tyler Pietrowski has 10 points in seven games.
