WEEKEND PREVIEW - BULLS BACK AT HOME FOR SERIES VERSUS BRAHMAS

THE SERIES: It's the third meeting of the season between the Amarillo Bulls and the Lone Star Brahmas. The road teams have the victories in the series with the Bulls beating Lone Star 4-3 in a tight affair last Saturday night in North Richland Hills, while the Brahmas won in the Texas Panhandle 7-1 in the middle of September. These two teams will meet not only tomorrow night but again on Sunday.

GOOD TO BE HOME: After spending the past 21 days away from home, the Amarillo Bulls are happy to be back at the cozy confines of the Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center. The Bulls will be at home for seven straight at home with games against the Lone Star Brahmas, Wichita Falls Wildcats and the Corpus Christi IceRays. After all of the travel and the early play, the Bulls will enjoy a well- deserved weekend off next Friday and Saturday.

EUROPEAN INFLUENCE: The influence of European born goaltenders on the Amarillo Bulls over the past seven years has been pretty remarkable and amazing. Nikifor Szerzba (2010-11), Anton Martinsson (2014-16) and Nikita Babintsev (2016-Present) have combined for 63 wins in 139 appearances. Szerzba and Martinsson have tied for the most amount of appearances in a season with 46.

LAST TIME OUT: The Amarillo Bulls raced out to a 4-1 third period lead and held on to beat the Lone Star Brahmas 4-3 at NYTEX Sports Center in North Richland Hills TX that spoiled the home opener of the Brahmas. Tyler Miknich, Jonathan Dagnal, Brendan Walkom and Charlie Singerhouse scored for the Bulls, while Drake Glover, Aidan Spellacy, and Troy York replied for Lone Star. Nikita Babintsev posted in the win in goal, stopping 40 of 43 shots he faced. Connor O'Brien suffered his first loss versus the Bulls after six previous wins.

The win by the Bulls snapped a 0-10 mark at NYTEX Sports Center that dated back to December of 2013.

ACROSS THE SOUTH: All South Division teams will see action this weekend. The Corpus Christi IceRays hold their home opener when they entertain the Odessa Jackalopes at American Bank Center on Friday and Saturday night. The Topeka RoadRunners begin a two game series versus their out of division rival the Springfield Jr. Blues on Friday night. The Shreveport Mudbugs face the Wichita Falls Wildcats on Saturday night at Kay Yeager Coliseum.

A TIGHT SOUTH DIVISION: Just four points separate first through sixth in the South Division with the Amarillo Bulls leading the way with 13 points followed by the Wichita Falls Wildcats with 12.
