Amarillo Bulls News Release

AMARILLO, TX - It's been a tough start to the home schedule for the Amarillo Bulls to say the least.

For the 2nd straight games, the Bulls dug themselves into an early hole and dropped a 7-1 decision to the Lone Star Brahmas at the Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center.

The Bulls saw their record fall to 1-2 and they head the North American Hockey League Showcase in Blaine, Minnesota beginning Monday to get ready for games on Wednesday. There will be a long stretch between home games for the Amarillo Bulls with nearly 30 days between them (next game Friday, Oct. 14).

Alex Truscott had the lone Bulls goal in the third period to break up the shutout bid by Alec Calavarusso. Kyle Madore took the loss in goal. It was a big night for Troy York and Drake Glover who each scored a hattrick. Forward Austin Kamer set up four of the seven goals.

It was another slow first period for the Amarillo Bulls that allowed the visitors to score twice. It was the combination of Drake Glove and Austin Kamer that scored both goals five minutes apart to give Lone Star a 2-0 advantage. The Bulls offense managed just 9 shots and it was George Mika and Jake Nitsche.

Lone Star blew the game open in the 2nd period with three goals as Drake Glover completed his hattrick and Troy York scored once to begin his natural hattrick. Hunter Stanley potted the other goal in the period. The Bulls had power play time with a 5 on 3 opportunity but couldn't get anything past goaltender Calavarusso.

York completed his hattrick with two more in the third period but it was Truscott that scored between those two markers. Truscott scored on a great feed from Luke Edgerton and Phil Fromberger.

George Mika led the Bulls in shots on goal with five, while Hayden Broomhead and Matt Nehls each had four.

The Lone Star Brahmas outshot the Amarillo Bulls 53-26, including 24-8 in the third period.
