AMARILLO, TX - Four Amarillo Bulls Alumni have concluded their professional hockey seasons after some terrific early results.
Greg Gibson, who played at Robert Morris University had an immediate impact with the ECHL's Florida Everblades. Gibson, a native of Burlington, Ontario Canada picked up a couple of assists in five playoff games for the Everblades. In nine regular season games, Gibson left his mark, scoring five goals and adding one assist for six points. He had a hattrick in his first professional game.
Forward Matt Johnson, who played at Lake Superior State University, concluded his short stay with the Greenville Swamp Rabbits of the ECHL where he had no points in six regular season contests.
Meantime at the Southern Professional Hockey League level, defenseman Dan McDougall appeared in two playoff games for the Knoxville Ice Bears but didn't manage a point. McDougall, who played collegiately at Neumann University, notched one goal and two assists for three points in 23 regular season games for Knoxville.
Cody Freeman's rookie season in the SPHL was very successful as a member of the Columbus Cottonmouths. The former Canisius College power forward finished fifth on the team in scoring, registering eight goals and 10 assist for 18 points in 44 games. Freeman had four game winning goals and another on the power play.
The Amarillo Bulls are preparing for their 7th season in the North American Hockey League this September.
