Birmingham Barons News Release

BILOXI, MS -- Trey Michalczewski brought home a pair to tie the game late, but the Birmingham Barons dropped their second straight one-run game to the Biloxi Shuckers by a 4-3 final score.

Michalczewski, the White Sox no. 5 prospect, drove home Joey DeMichele and Adam Engel to give the Barons a brief 3-2 lead before Biloxi countered in the home half of the eighth inning. Peter Tago took the loss, surrendering a game-winning two-run home run to Shuckers catcher Parker Berberet.

Birmingham has now dropped five straight games and four consecutive one-run decisions.

Eddy Alvarez extended his hitting streak to 11 games with a solo home run to put the Barons on the board in the sixth inning, tying him with Jake Peter and Adam Engel (who singled tonight to match Alvarez at 11 games) for the team-high this year.

Brandon Brennan held the Shuckers at bay in 2.1 innings of relief, stranding two inherited runners while allowing just one hit and adding two strikeouts.

Southpaw Blair Walters tossed 4.2 innings in his third start since returning from the disabled list, allowing just one earned run across five hits.

Tyler Barnette takes his turn in the rotation tomorrow night; inheriting the spot vacated by Carson Fulmer, who was promoted to the Chicago White Sox earlier today.
