UPCOMING GAMES AND PITCHING PROBABLES

CURVE/RICHMOND SERIES: Altoona leads the season series 4-1 and will look to secure a series-split to-

night at The Diamond.

YESTERDAY: Starting pitcher Rudy Owens stole the show on Tuesday night at The Diamond as the south-

paw tossed six no-hit innings and permitted just one baserunner to reach over his six innings of work in

Altoona's, 9-1, win over Richmond. The Mesa, Ariz. product whiffed a career-high 11 batters and retired the

first 17 men he faced before he issued the two-out walk to reliever Craig Whitaker in the sixth. Offensively,

Alex Presley was 2-for-4 and is now tied for second all-time in the Curve record books with his 18-game

hitting streak. All told, seven of the eight position players recorded at least one hit and six of the eight

drove in at least one run. Jeff Sues pitched the final three innings for his fourth save of the season and al-

lowed an unearned run in the process.

FOR ALTOONA: Major leaguer Ross Ohlendorf will make his rehab start tonight for the Altoona Curve as

the right hander is trying to come back after battling back spasms that occurred after his first start of the

season. Ohlendorf started on April 7 against the Dodgers in Pittsburgh's, 4-3, win and threw five innings

while allowing three runs (two earned). For more on Ohlendorf, see page two.

FOR RICHMOND: The Squirrels send out RHP Mike MacDonald to make his second start of the season

against Altoona and his sixth start overall. MacDonald did not permit a run in his only outing this season

against the Curve, throwing six shutout innings on April 13. Altoona was able to outlast the Squirrels in

that contest though as they won the game, 1-0, in 14 innings. The right hander from Maine is coming

off arguably his best start of the season, throwing seven shutout innings while striking out eight at home

against Bowie on April 30.

STREAKING INTO THE RECORD BOOKS: Alex Presley found hits in his last two at bats on Tuesday to run

his hitting streak to 18 games and even higher in the Curve record books. During his streak, he is batting

.400 (28-for-70) with two doubles, three triples, two home runs and 15 RBI. The 18-game streak places him

in a second-place tie in the Curve history books with Adam Hyzdu (1999) and Nate McLouth (2004). The

longest streak in Curve history was set at 21 games back in 2002 by Kevin Sefcik. The streak is also the lon-

gest active and overall streak in the E.L. this season. Presley still checks in second in the league in hitting

behind Akron's Cord Phelps (.390) with a .375 average.

OWNAGE: Rudy Owens dominated the Squirrels last night in Richmond with his six no-hit innings and 11

strikeouts. The 11 strikeouts set a new career high for the native of the Grand Canyon State and marked

the first time a Curve starter struck out double-digit batters since Kip Bouknight fanned 10 on August 30,

2007 vs. Reading.

MOVERS AND SHAKERS: The Curve received LHP Corey Hamman from Triple-A Indianapolis earlier today.

Hamman will be active for tonight's game versus Richmond and will wear No. 37.

GRAND THEFT: Altoona stole a season high three bases as a team last night against the Squirrels. All told

the Curve have taken 20 bags this season which has them fourth in the

E.L. behind Trenton (36), New Hampshire (35) and Erie (27).

AREA 51: Reliever Ronald Uviedo continues to lead all MiLB relievers

with his .051 BAA entering play today. Ernesto Frieri of Portland (PCL)

still is hot on his heels though with a .053 BAA.
