Altitude to Host Mascot and Interactive Squad Tryouts

Asheville, N.C., September 18, 2003 - The Asheville Altitude will conduct auditions to select the co-ed Altitude Interactive Squad and the teamÂ’s official mascot Sept. 19-20, starting at 7:00 p.m. at Premier Cheerleading.

The Altitude Interactive Squad, the teamÂ’s official dance/cheer team, participates in cheer, stunt, dance and tumbling routines during 23 National Basketball Development League (NBDL) basketball contests at the Asheville Civic Center. Members will consist of a dynamic group of dancers, cheerleaders, gymnasts and entertainers designed to deliver an exciting, high-energy combination of entertainment and crowd encouraging presentations. The squad will also participate in various community service events scheduled throughout the season.

As the official mascot of the Altitude, Alto candidates should be enthusiastic, comical, acrobatic and fanatical for the team. Alto will be the center of attraction for the Interactive Squad during promotions and game-time entertainment.

Potential interactive squad and mascot candidates must be at least 18 years of age and possess cheer and/or dance skills with the ability to communicate effectively. Evaluations will consist of various choreographed dances and cheer routines including stunting, chanting, tumbling and slam-dunk testing for mascot candidates (props will be provided).

The Altitude opens the 2003-04 regular season at Columbus, Nov. 28, followed by the regular season home opener on Nov. 30 against the Huntsville Flight at 7:15 p.m. in the Civic Center.

Altitude season tickets are on sale now and feature numerous options for all entertainment needs. Fans can purchase season ticket packages for home games by calling the Altitude at 828-782-1000. Season packages start as low as $27 and are discounted from the single game price ranges of $9, $15, $30 and $35. Additional discounts will be available for children. Currently fans may purchase full, partial, flex, mini or group packages. Individual single game tickets will go on sale in later months.
