Allen and Wichita to Meet in CHL Finals

GLENDALE, AZ (April 23, 2013) - The 2013 CHL Ray Miron Presidents' Cup Finals is set with the Bud Poile Governors' Cup champion Allen Americans and the Wichita Thunder facing off in a best-of-7 series that gets underway on Tuesday, April 30 at the Allen Event Center.
The Americans earn home ice in the series thanks to finishing one point ahead of the Thunder during the regular season. The two clubs finished one, two in the standings with Allen boasting a 39-18-9 mark and Wichita finishing the season with a 39-19-8 mark.
Allen will host Game's 1 and 2, Game 5 (if necessary) and Game 7 (if necessary), while the Thunder will host Game's 3 and 4 and Game 6 (if necessary).
The two rivals played each other nine times in the regular season with Allen winning the season series with five victories. At the Allen Event Center, the Americans 4-1 against Wichita and in the INTRUST Bank Arena, the Thunder posted a 3-1 record against Allen. In the all-time series, Allen is 14-5-2 in the head-to-head contests.
The trip to the Finals is the second straight and fifth in the Thunder's 21 seasons. Wichita captured the title in 1994 and 1995, while losing in the Finals in 1998 and 2012.
This will be the second journey to the Finals for the Americans who fell in their expansion season (2010) to Rapid City.
