Allard Named Southern League Pitcher of the Week

PEARL, MS -- Mississippi Braves LHP Kolby Allard was named Southern League Pitcher of the Week for the week ending Sunday, May 7. The 19-year-old southpaw tossed six shutout innings, surrendering just three hits while striking out 11 batters in his start against the Barons Thursday. Allard's numbers ranked second among all pitchers throughout Minor League Baseball for the week. Allard is 2-1 with a 1.36 ERA in six starts for the Double-A Braves this season. As ranked by Baseball America, the Braves No. 3 prospect currently ranks third among Southern League Leaders in ERA. Allard has allowed the fourth-fewest baserunners per nine innings pitched, 8.73, so far on the season. A native of California, Allard went 8-3 with a 2.98 ERA in 16 starts between R-Danville and Low-A Rome last year. He ranked fifth among all Braves farmhands in starters ERA and ranked tied for seventh in wins last season. A native of San Clemente, CA, Allard was selected by the Braves in the first round of the 2015 draft. ~~~~~
