Utah Blaze News Release

SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah Blaze agreed to terms on a new contract with WR Aaron Lesué, the franchise announced today. Lesué earned first-team All-Arena accolades after producing a record-setting campaign for the Blaze in 2012.

"We're thrilled to have Aaron back on board," said Head Coach Ron James. "Aaron has been a mainstay in this franchise and is a fan favorite. He is a veteran player that knows our offense very well. Over the past two seasons, he's developed a fantastic rapport with quarterback Tommy Grady. I'm really excited to have him back in the black and orange."

Lesué (5-11, 195, Utah State) set an Arena Football League record by hauling in 64 touchdown receptions combined in the regular season and playoffs in 2012. The fleet-footed wideout started every game for the Blaze last year and tied for ninth on the AFL's single-season record list with 155 catches during the regular season. In total, Lesué snared 181 receptions for 2,155 yards.

"I'm thankful to have the opportunity to continue my career with the Blaze," said Lesué. "We have a great group of owners and an amazing coaching staff. It was really important to me to play for a team that will compete for a championship. We came close last season, and I know everyone associated with this organization is working hard to reach that goal in 2013."

In 2011, Lesué played in 14 games with eight starts and recorded 77 receptions for 912 yards with 27 touchdowns. He originally joined the Blaze as a rookie in 2010, seeing action at both wide receiver and defensive back. He delivered 19 catches for 233 yards and five touchdowns, adding 25 tackles with one fumble recovery on defense.

Lesué began his collegiate career at Dixie State College, where he enjoyed two successful campaigns before transferring to Utah State University. Lesué was an all-purpose threat for the Aggies, playing both wide receiver and running back while also returning kicks. During his final two college seasons, Lesué posted 467 yards on 19 kickoff returns, 165 yards on 13 receptions and 143 yards on 51 carries.
