ORLANDO - Veteran kicker Mark Lewis will return for his sixth consecutive season with the Orlando Predators, the team has announced. Now entering his 12th season, Lewis is a two-time All-Arena selection and former AFL Kicker of the Year.
"Mark is undoubtedly one of the most skilled kickers in the Arena Football League and is also an ambassador for the team in the local community," said Head Coach Rob Keefe. "He exemplifies what it means to be an Orlando Predator and we're excited to have him back for another season."
Lewis (5-11, 200, Florida International) connected on six-of-eight field goals in 2015 and was successful on 91.5 percent of his PATs, ranking second in the AFL as he hit on 118-of-129 attempts. The Predators also finished first in the AFL with a 31.6 percent success rate on on-side kicks as Lewis helped the team recover six of their 19 attempts. For his efforts, he earned Second Team All-Arena accolades.
Over the course of his 11-year AFL career, Lewis has made 1062-of-1187 PATs (89.5%) and 103-of-192 field goal attempts, including a career-long of 53 yards. He was named the AFL's Kicker of the Year and earned First Team All-Arena honors in 2007 as a member of the Austin Wranglers. Lewis originally played soccer at Florida International before entering the AFL as a rookie kicker in 2004. He is a local product from Altamonte Springs.
The Orlando Predators open the 2016 season on the road against the Tampa Bay Storm this Friday, April 1 at 7:00 p.m. ET. The game will air live on Bright House Sports Network (Channel 47, HD 1147) and can also be viewed on ESPN3/Watch ESPN.
