Alger Named Ccm USHL Forward of the Week

Ralston, NE - Omaha Lancers forward Austin Alger was named CCM USHL Forward of the Week on Monday after recording back-to-back multipoint games helping the Lancers to a pair of wins over the weekend. It is the second straight week that the Lancers haver earned a league-wide player of the week nod.

The Miami University commit notched two assists in Friday night's 4-1 victory over Tri-City. Alger followed that up with a pair of goals, including the game winner, Saturday night at the Lancers won their third straight, defeating Sioux Falls 3-2. A forward in his second USHL season, Alger has recorded eight points (5g, 3a) in his last five games, including three multi-point games. The five-game point-streak is the second-longest active streak in the USHL. The Livonia, MI native is tied for second on the team in scoring (17 points), trailing Pierce Crawford (19 points).

Alger is the first Lancer to be named CCM USHL Forward of the Week since Brannon McManus won the honor on October 12 of last season. It is the second time this season a Lancer has won player of the week honors, Derek Hamelin was named Defenseman of the Week last week.

Lincoln's Dylan Woolf was named Defenseman of the Week, and Team USA's Dylan St. Cyr was named Goaltender of the Week.

Omaha has two more games before the USHL's Winter Break. The Lancers host Sioux City on Friday night, before heading to Lincoln to face the Stars for the first time on Saturday.
