El Paso Chihuahuas News Release
Former Houston Astros and Colorado Rockies starter Jordan Lyles pitched 7.1 innings in the Albuquerque Isotopes' 6-5 win over the El Paso Chihuahuas Thursday night at Southwest University Park. The Chihuahuas split the four-game series and also split their eight-game homestand.
El Paso starter Bryan Rodriguez entered the game with back-to-back scoreless starts but allowed six earned runs on eight hits in 4.1 innings Thursday. Derek Eitel, Johnny Hellweg, Eric Yardley and Daniel Moskos all had scoreless relief outings for El Paso.
The Chihuahuas trailed 6-1 in the bottom of the eighth when an RBI infield single by Manuel Margot and a two-run single by Alex Dickerson got El Paso within two. Austin Hedges hit a solo home run on the first pitch of the bottom of the ninth to make the score 6-5, but Albuquerque turned a game-ending double play with the tying run on base a few batters later, one of four Isotopes' double plays in the game.
Dickerson was 3-for-4 with two RBIs, while Rocky Gale went 2-for-4 with a couple of strong defensive plays in his sixth career game at third base.
