Albany Devils News Release

No Complacency: After a 2-0 start to the season, the Albany Devils are trying to stay humble as they head into a three-in-three weekend. The team, which defeated its opening weekend opponents by a combined score of 8-3, hosts Binghamton Friday (7 pm), Utica Saturday (5 pm) and then travels to Providence Sunday (3:05 pm).

"If you get complacent in this league you start to fight an uphill battle," said Devils' forward Ben Sexton. "We have a good group of older guys and a good mix of young guys that aren't going to allow that to happen. You just have to take it one game at a time. Wins are definitely tough to come by in this league."

Skills Day For The Devils: There was very little contact during the Albany Devils practice Tuesday at Knickerbacker Ice Arena. Skills Development Coach Pertti Hasanen was in town, leading three on-ice sessions to help improve the players' stick handling and skating. These days have come to be known as "Pertti Days" and have proven their worth.

"He has a skating aspect to it and gets specific with skating and stick handling from a positional standpoint," said Head Coach Rick Kowalsky. "I thought it was well received by the players last year. It's a good change of pace as the season progresses and breaks up some of those long week blocks from game to game. Overall it was a success last season and we're excited to have him work with us this year."

Friday's For The Boys: The Devils have introduced "Guys Nights Out" for the 2016-17 season. All guys who bring a pal to the Friday's game will receive a half-price ticket when they purchase a regularly priced ticket at the Times Union Center Box Office -- both patrons must be available at point of purchase. "Guys Night Out" includes a "Happy Hour" with $4 drafts between 6 pm and the end of the first period. The second "Guys Night Out" will be on Friday, Feb. 17.
