Albany Devils Add Stefan Stepanov

ALBANY, NY - The Albany Devils announced today that they have signed defensemen Stefan Stepanov to an AHL contract. The announcement was made by General Manager Chris Lamoriello. As per club policy, no further terms were disclosed.

Stepanov, 20, joins the AHL Devils after two-and-a-half seasons in the Kontinental Hockey League and the Minor Hockey League, playing for CSKA Moscow (2010-11) and Yekaterinburg (2011-13). During that span he logged 51 KHL games, registering two assists and 24 penalty minutes. In 55 MHL outings, he posted 30 points, including seven goals and 23 assists, and 54 penalty minutes. This season, the 6-0, 175-lbs defenseman appeared in 20 KHL and two MHL games.

The Moscow native represented Russia during the 2010 International Ice Hockey Federation's World Under-18 Championship and the World Junior A Challenge.
