The clubs played a scoreless opening period. Utah outshot Alaska 14-8 in the frame.

Both clubs opened their offense in the second period. Utah began the frame with a pair of goals from Berkley Scott at 7:11 and 13:29 to make it 2-0 Grizzlies. The Aces got within a goal when Nick Mazzolini scored his 30th of the year at 14:00 with a slapshot from the blue line that trickled through the pads of goaltender Adam Morrison and rolled into the net to get Alaska on the board. The Aces outshot the Grizzlies 15-8 in the period, but trailed 2-1 heading into the third period.

Spencer Bennett tied the game early in the third period, scoring his fourth goal in the last three games at 3:14. It stayed that way as the Aces continued to pepper the Utah net, and late in regulation the barrage of shots finally broke through. At 17:42 Mike Baran kept a shot low from the left boards that found a hole through the legs of Morrison and gave Alaska their first lead of the game. 19 seconds later Garry Nunn finished off a two-on-one with Nick Mazzolini for his career-high tying 15th goal of the season. The Aces added to the four-goal third period when Bobby Hughes scored into an empty net from center ice at 19:30, completing the comeback win for Alaska.

Mark Guggenberger (20-6-5) made 26 saves on 28 shots for the win. Adam Morrison (2-8-2) made 36 saves on 40 shots in the loss. The Aces went 0-3 on the power play and the Grizzlies were 0-2. Alaska outshot Utah 41-28 in the game.
