Aerodynamics...

First Things First...This evening's first game is the continuation of a game that originally began Sunday, April 20th. In that game the Aeros jumped out to a quick 5-1 lead, batting around and scoring all five runs in the top of the second before rain halted the proceedings in the top of the third. The game will restart today with Aeros LF Nathan Panther facing Bowie reliever Rommie Lewis. There will be one out, Chris Gimenez will be aboard at first base, and the count will be 1-0. Both rosters have experienced changes since the game started close to two weeks ago, so Matt Whitney is now playing first base and batting clean-up for Akron (replacing Michael Aubrey), while Sebastien Boucher has moved into centerfield for Bowie (batting first and replacing Jonathan Tucker) and Freddy Bynum is now the designated hitter (batting ninth and replacing Zach Dillon).

Capital Gains...The Aeros are starting to hit their stride a bit, winning four of their last five following yesterday's 6-2 triumph over Erie. Akron took the final two games in the three game set, winning just its second series all year and first since claiming two out of three from Bowie April 10th-12th. Yesterday Akron never trailed, getting a sterling performance from LHP Chuck Lofgren in the win. Lofgren dominated Erie for six innings, allowing just one run on six hits for his first victory of the season. The big left-hander also set an Aeros season-high with nine strikeouts on the day, finishing just one shy of the career-high 10 he recorded on August 3rd, 2006 while pitching for Kinston against Lynchburg.

Bound for Buffalo...1B Michael Aubrey will make his much-anticipated AAA debut tonight as the Buffalo Bisons host the Charlotte Knights. Aubrey, who spent parts of the last four seasons with Akron, was hitting .277 with two home runs and 16 RBI while appearing in all 24 games for the Aeros. The former first-round selection out of Tulane University had hit safely in 22 games, going hitless only on April 14th and April 21st. He opened the season with a nine-game hitting streak and was working on an eight-game streak at the time of his promotion.

They Call Him the Streak...CF Jose Constanza picked up three more hits yesterday and finished just a homer shy of the cycle while extending his hitting streak to seven games. Constanza needs to get a hit in tonight's second game to extend his streak however, since the first game is still technically April 20th's contest.
