El Paso Diablos News Release

With the Diablos starting a seven game road trip, they battled the Grand Prairie AirHogs in a three game series, but came up short being swept by the AirHogs 3-0.

Game one of the series proved to be the easiest of games for the AirHogs, as they defeated the Diablos 12-5. The game took a quick turn when the AirHogs scored 10 runs in the third and fourth inning, which put the game out of contention for the Diablos. The one shining light of the game for the Diablos was shortstop Maikol Gonzalez who had a season's best four hits in five at bats.

Game two of the series proved to be one of the closest games of the series with the AirHogs narrowly edging out the Diablos 4-3. The first five innings of the game was dominated by the pitching from both teams. Starting pitcher Carlos Teller was solid going 5.0 innings only giving up two runs, on four hits, with four strikeouts. Late in the game the Diablos grabbed a 3-2 lead with two innings remaining, but the AirHogs scored a run in the last two innings, and won the game 4-3.

Game three was almost a carbon copy of the second game, with fewer runs; once again the AirHogs narrowly escaped the Diablos 2-1 in a great pitching battle. Starting pitcher Kevin Cooper was great going 5.2 innings only giving up one run on five hits, with three strikeouts. With two innings to go and the game tied at 1-1, the AirHogs scored the final run in the eighth inning to beat the Diablos 2-1.

The Diablos are now 18-45 this season as they finish their three game series against the Grand Prairie AirHogs, the Diablos will now start a three game series against the Kansas City T-Bones.
