Texas AirHogs News Release

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas - The AirHogs fell to the Laredo Lemurs in another thrilling matchup at AirHogs Stadium Tuesday evening. The AirHogs leveled the score in the bottom of the 9th at 3-3 before surrendering 4 runs in the top of the 10th and falling by a final of 7-4. RHP Palmer Betts started for the AirHogs and was sharp, allowing just single tallies in the 2nd and 6th. The Adel, Georgia native struck out 8 before turning the ball over to Matt Shepherd to begin the 7th.

Betts was opposed on the mound by RHP Troy Marks. Marks pitched into the 6th, allowing 2 runs himself while striking out 5. 3B Cody Lenahan tagged him for an RBI single in the 2nd to score Devon Rodriguez, and Rodriguez picked up an RBI himself in the 6th off relief man Harold Guerrero. His double would score Juan Sanchez, whom Marks put on earlier in the frame.

The AirHogs entered the bottom of the 9th trailing 3-2 after Laredo got to Shepherd for an unearned run in the 7th. When the team loaded the bases with one out, Michael Hur sent a sacrifice fly to center to score Cody Lenahan to tie the game. A sharply hit ground ball by Sanchez, the next man up, almost found a way through the left side to score Brian Bistagne. A strong defensive effort from 3B Travis Denker led to a fielder's choice though, sending the game to the 10th.

There, the Lemurs would capitalize for 4 runs off AirHog relievers Tyler Ihrig, who would take the loss, and Richard Suniga. The Lemurs were led by CF Drew Martinez, who finished 2 for 5 with 3 RBI, and 1B Abel Nieves, who bashed 2 doubles, scored 2 runs, and picked up 1 RBI himself.

Burt Reynolds would smash his American Association-leading 5th home run in the bottom of the 10th, but it was too little too late for the AirHogs, who fell to 4-5 on the season. James Inman got the win for the Lemurs, who improved to 5-4, their first time over .500 in 2016.

The teams conclude their series tomorrow at 2:05 at AirHogs Stadium. Sam Martin is expected to get the ball for the AirHogs to start.

A live radio broadcast of the game will be available on mixlr.com/TXAirHogs. Tickets are still available and can be purchased by visiting airhogsbaseball.com or by calling 972-237-7695.
