Airhogs Fall 2-1 In Laredo Opener

LAREDO, Texas - The AirHogs dropped the opener of a 4-game set to the Laredo Lemurs at Uni-Trade Stadium Monday. The Lemurs scored a run in the 5th and another in the 7th to erase a 1-0 deficit and win a tight one 2-1.

The AirHogs got off to a hot start against lefty Zack Dodson, batting 12 over the 1st 2 innings and getting an early run on an RBI single by Cody Lenahan to score Leon Byrd in the 1st. The RBI was the 47th of the season for Lenahan, who finished with 2 hits.

Diego Ibarra held the Lemurs scoreless over the first 4 before surrendering a run on a walk, an infield single and an error in the 5th. The Lemurs got a leadoff double from Abel Nieves (the only extra base hit in a game that featured 14 singles) and scored him after Ibarra issued 3 walks to establish a 2-1 lead.

Luis De La Cruz fired a scoreless 7th and 8th in relief of Dodson, who held the AirHogs scoreless from the 2nd through the 6th. Jeff Inman stranded the tying run aboard to notch his 15th save in the 9th. The win of the year was the 3rd for De La Cruz. The loss was the 3rd of the year for Ibarra.

The AirHogs (33-60) and the Lemurs (52-41) meet again tomorrow at 7:05. RHP Cody Hebner is expected to start for the AirHogs.
