Akron Racers News Release

AKRON, Ohio - The Akron Racers announced today that they have extended pitcher Aimee Creger contract through the 2016 season.

"Aimee has recommitted herself to a rigorous training program to return to the circle as a starter for the Racers this summer," commented GM, Joey Arrietta.

After spending the 2013 season on the USA National Team as a collegiate junior, Creger, who went undrafted in the 2014 NPF draft, made her debut for the Racers on May 31, 2015. Creger earned a no-decision after allowing one run on three hits in four innings of work. Akron went on to defeat the Pennsylvania Rebellion 2-1 in eight innings for the Racers first win of the season.

After beginning the year as a starter, Creger enjoyed her most success coming out of the bullpen. In her final two appearances of the year, Creger threw two and one-third scoreless innings, allowing one hit and three walks while striking out three. On the season, Creger struck out 11 batters in just 12 innings of work in 2015.

In 2013, Creger threw 10 shutout innings and struck out 16 hitters to go 1-0 in International play, while

earning a Gold Medal in the Mayor's Cup and the Pan American Games Qualifier. She also grabbed a Silver Medal in the World Cup of Softball as a member of Team USA.

At the University of Tulsa, Creger set numerous school records her junior year with 25 wins, 26 complete games, 286 strikeouts and 9.98 strikeouts per seven innings. Her 1.15 ERA that season placed her fifth in the nation that year. Creger also currently sits 67th on the NCAA career strikeout list with 1,079.

Creger won Conference USA Freshman Pitcher of the Year in 2011 and Conference USA Pitcher of the

Year in 2013. She was also a two-time Conference USA First Team selection and a two-time NFCA All-American Third team selection.

In addition to her pitching prowess, Creger had a career .258 batting average with 29 RBI, four home runs and scored 17 runs as Tulsa.

The Akron Racers Opening Weekend Celebration begins June 8-10 against the Rebellion. For further information call 330.376.8188. The complete schedule is available online at akronracers.org.
