AHN 'Health Series' Continues

PITTSBURGH - The Pittsburgh Riverhounds will host the fourth night of their "Health Series" with Prostate Cancer Awareness Night in conjunction with First Responders Night at Highmark Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 9 against Louisville City FC.

Presented by Allegheny Health Network (AHN) - the official medical provider of the Riverhounds - the Health Series is designed to educate fans and generate awareness about a range of health topics including heart disease prevention, pediatric orthopaedic and concussion awareness, prostate and breast cancer awareness, and ways to live a healthy life and avoid injury.

AHN will provide the opportunity for fans to engage with prostate cancer specialists on-site to learn about the risk factors, symptoms, how it is found and how it is treated. AHN also will have on hand a 20-foot inflatable colon for fans to walk through.

"AHN's model of cancer care is patient-centric and community-based," said David Parda, MD, Chair, AHN Cancer Institute. "Our community outreach, exemplified by events like this and our community cancer screenings, is making a real difference in the lives of people throughout western Pennsylvania."

In 2016, AHN clinicians provided nearly 2,000 screenings to 572 patients at events throughout the area, a record number for the Network. They screened for a variety of cancers from skin and breast to cervical, prostate, and lung. More screening events are scheduled in the coming weeks, including: - Saturday, Sept. 9, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., at Murrysville Commons - Saturday, Sept. 30, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., at Erie West Side Health + Wellness Pavilion - Saturday, Oct. 7, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., at Jefferson Hospital - Saturday, Nov. 4, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., at Allegheny Valley HospitalAHN also works hand in hand with our first responders throughout the community to provide the most effective and efficient care. That includes AHN's LifeFlight, which provides regional emergency helicopter and critical care ground transportation services for critically ill and injured patients who need immediate specialized care. LifeFlight is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
