LOOKING BACK: Plenty of late heroics have highlighted AHL action already this week... Peter Olvecky scored with 28.6 seconds left in regulation on Thursday to give Milwaukee a 3-2 win over San Antonio... On Wednesday night, David Laliberte scored late in the third and Stefan Legein struck in overtime as Adirondack rallied past Albany, 4-3... Nick Palmieri scored with 59.3 seconds to play as Lowell snuck by Hartford, 3-2... Jake Dowell's goal in the final second of overtime gave Rockford a 4-3 win over Toronto... Ivan Vishnevskiy tallied the winner in Texas's 3-2 OT victory over Houston..

LOOKING AHEAD: The last time the Hershey Bears visited Winnipeg, they left with the Calder Cup in tow... This weekend, the Bears and Manitoba Moose renew pleasantries at the MTS Centre with a two-game set... Hershey enters the weekend winners of 10 in a row, while Manitoba has won seven of nine overall and nine of 12 (9-2-1-0) at home... Rookie defenseman John Carlson (1-23-24) has rejoined the Bears after his gold-medal-winning heroics for Team USA at the World Junior Championships... Braden Holtby, Hershey's third-string goaltender in the Finals last spring, has won his last seven starts and is 9-1-1 with a 1.45 goals-against average in 11 appearances for the Bears this season... Keith Aucoin leads the AHL with 19 goals and ranks second with 43 points, including 5-6-11 during his current five-game scoring streak... Michael Grabner has 3-1-4 in three games since his return to Manitoba from Vancouver... Cory Schneider has won six of his last seven decisions for the Moose.
With a 7-1-0-1 mark in its last nine games, Lake Erie embarks on a six-game road trip with games in Hamilton on Friday night and Rochester on Saturday afternoon... The Monsters have been led by reigning Reebok/AHL Player of the Month T.J. Hensick, who has 1-15-16 in those nine games and 4-21-25 in 18 games overall... Ryan Stoa has 10 goals in 14 games since the start of December, and fellow rookie Justin Mercier has four goals in three games after beginning his pro career scoreless in 31 matches... The Bulldogs, on a 13-3-1-0 roll, have opened up a seven-point lead atop the North Division... David Desharnais (14-16-30) has a point in 20 of his 24 games this season, but two of the four scoreless efforts were against Lake Erie... Cedrick Desjardins is 11-1-0 (1.32,.943) with four shutouts for Hamilton since Nov. 27.
Worcester carries a six-game winning streak into a weekend which will see three division opponents visit the DCU Center, beginning with Hartford's visit on Friday... The Sharks have gone 14-2-0-1 in their last 17 games, winning eight of nine at home in that span... Worcester's Logan Couture (13-22-35) is tied for the AHL scoring lead among rookies, and his nine-game scoring streak entering the weekend (4-10-14) matches the longest in the league this season... Benn Ferriero has a point in eight straight for the Sharks (5-8-13), and John McCarthy had a seven-game streak snapped in a 4-3 win over Bridgeport on Jan. 3... Hartford comes to town with a 6-2-0-2 mark in its last 10 overall, but 1-4-0-2 in its last seven on the road... Defenseman Ilkka Heikkinen has 1-3-4 and a plus-4 rating in his last three contests... Bobby Sanguinetti has goen 16 games since his last goal, Nov. 14 at Worcester.
