AHL Announces Suspensions

January 4, 2010 - American Hockey League (AHL) News Release


SPRINGFIELD, Mass.... The American Hockey League today announced that Albany River Rats left wing Nicolas Blanchard has been suspended for three (3) games as a result of his actions in a game vs. Adirondack on Dec. 30.

Blanchard was suspended under the provisions of AHL Rule 29.1 (supplementary discipline).

Blanchard has already served the first two games of his suspension. He will miss Albany's game vs. Adirondack on Wednesday (Jan. 6).

The AHL also announced that Grand Rapids Griffins center Kris Newbury has been suspended for three (3) games as a result of his actions in a game vs. Hamilton on Dec. 31.

Newbury was suspended under the provisions of AHL Rule 29.1 (supplementary discipline) after receiving a game misconduct for leaving the players' bench on a legal line change for the purpose of starting an altercation.

Newbury has already served the first two games of his suspension. He will miss Grand Rapids' game vs. San Antonio on Wednesday (Jan. 6).
