ZEBULON, NC - Carolina Mudcats' first baseman Jesus Aguilar was selected to the World Team for the 14th All-Star Futures game in Kansas City. The Futures Game spotlights the top prospects across Minor League baseball. The World Team will face the US Team at 5:00 p.m. EDT at the Kansas City Royals' ballpark, Kauffman Stadium on July 8.
A native of Maracay, Venezuela, Aguilar owns a .303 batting average this season, ranking him among the Top 10 in the Carolina League. The slugger has seven home runs, 33 RBI and an on-base percentage of .386 in 66 games. His 69 hits pace the Carolina offense. Aguilar earned Carolina League Player of the Week honors for April 30 - May 6 after belting four homers in a three-day span.
Baseball America named him the "Best Power Bat" in the Cleveland Indians' farm system after slugging 19 home runs and driving in 69 with the Lake County Captains in 2011. He led the entire Indians' system with 82 RBI last season, and finished second in home runs with 23.
The Major League All-Star game is set for July 10.
