Double Trouble...After an 84-minute rain delay, last night's game was suspended and will resume in the top of the third inning this morning at 10:35 a.m. The game will pick up with Reading's Quintin Berry at first base and Michael Taylor batting with two away. The Aeros lead the game 1-0 thanks to a solo home run from LF Nick Weglarz in the bottom of the second. This game will be played to its nine-inning conclusion and game two will be a seven-inning contest.
News and Notes...As was expected yesterday, RHP Josh Judy has been activated from the disabled list. The reliever went on the DL just over a week ago with a strained right forearm, and is 0-0 with a 7.00 ERA and two saves in seven appearances this season...IF Niuman Romero has been promoted to Class AAA Columbus, and will be replaced in the lineup by Cristo Arnal, who will play second base and hit seventh in the lineup. Romero had seen time at third, short, and second this year for Akron.
Streaking Phillies...Reading defeated the Aeros by the final score of 5-0 at Canal Park Tuesday night, marking the third shutout in four games for Phillies pitching. The third-place R-Phils have now won a season-high five straight games, and moved to only seven games behind Akron and 1.5 games behind Erie in the Southern Division. Akron retains the best record in baseball, 1.5 games better than Birmingham (Double-A Southern League) and Brevard County (Class A Florida State).
