Akron RubberDucks News Release

AKRON, OH - The Cleveland Indians have announced that lefty David Huff will join the Akron Aeros on a major league rehab assignment, and will start Friday's game at Reading at 7:05 PM.

Huff, a former first-round selection by the Indians in 2006, suffered a strained right hamstring in spring training, and was placed on the DL on March 30. Prior to the injury, Huff was a leading candidate to win the fifth spot in the Indians rotation.

Huff, 27, owns a 15-25 major league record. He split last season between Cleveland and Triple-A Columbus. With the Indians, he was 2-6, 4.09 in 11 appearances, 10 starts. At Columbus, Huff was 9-3, 3.87 in 18 starts.

A one-time Aeros pitcher, Huff was 5-1 with a sparkling 1.92 ERA in 11 games, 10 starts, with Akron in 2008.

Huff threw a simulated game at Canal Park last Monday and became eligible to be activated from the major league disabled list on April 14th.

In Friday's game at Reading, Huff is expected to throw a maximum of four innings or 60 pitches.

In other roster activity, RHP Toru Murata has been promoted to the Columbus Clippers. Murata appeared in three games for the Aeros, including one start, and had no record with a 3.38 ERA.

The Aeros will begin a six game road trip on Friday evening in Reading. Following a three-game set with the Phillies, the Aeros will play three in Bowie, Maryland against the Baysox. The next homestand at Canal Park begins on Friday, April 27th. All Aeros games are broadcast on Fox Sports 1350 AM and online at www.akronaeros.com.
