Norfolk Admirals News Release

PORTLAND, Me.- Brandon Bochenski scored 2:33 into overtime to give the Norfolk Admirals (9-8-1-0) a 2-1 victory over the Portland Pirates (6-10-2-0) on Tuesday night at the Cumberland County Civic Center. The Admirals picked up their first win on a season-high eight-game road trip (1-1-1-0) with the fourth stop coming tomorrow night in Manchester against the Monarchs.

Portland took a 1-0 lead 12:29 into the game. Mike Weber sent a shot from the left point. Former Admirals forward Kyle Wanvig deflected the shot just under the crossbar and past Norfolk netminder Dustin Tokarski.

The Admirals tied the game late in the second stanza. Martins Karsums attempted a pass from the bottom of the left circle toward the left point that a Portland defenseman attempted to intersect. However, the puck deflected off the defender's stick into the slot where Radek Smolenak collected it and shot it past Portland goaltender Jean-Philippe Lamoureux at 19:24.

After a scoreless third period, Pirates defenseman Dennis Persson was sent to the penalty box for hooking 2:09 into overtime to give Norfolk a power play. Brandon Bochenski, the all-time AHL Admirals leader in power play goals and game-winning goals, became the AHL Admirals all-time overtime goal scoring leader with his third career overtime goal. Bochenski's shot from the left faceoff dot found its target 2:33 into overtime.

Dustin Tokarski (25 shots, 24 saves) earned the win. Jean-Philippe Lamoureux (21 shots, 19 saves) took the loss.

Norfolk was 1-5 on the power play. Portland was 0-5.
