Norfolk Admirals News Release

NORFOLK, Va. - The Norfolk Admirals have signed left wing Kyle Bonis (BOHN-his) and center Charlie Sarault (sih-ROH) to Amateur Tryout Contracts (ATOs).

Bonis, a 5-foot-11, 175-lb. left wing, recently concluded the senior season of his collegiate hockey career at Ferris State University, where he led the Bulldogs with 19 goals and 27 points in 37 games while serving as team captain. The 24-year-old native of Lindsay, Ontario, also led the team in multi-point games (8), multi-goal games (4), and game-winning goals (3).

Bonis played in 136 collegiate games with the Bulldogs, recording 47 goals and 77 points. He was also a key member of the 2011-12 FSU team that advanced past the Frozen Four to the national championship game. The undrafted center was nominated for Lowe's Senior CLASS Award, which honors NCAA men's ice hockey student-athletes who excel both on and off the ice. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence - community, classroom, character and competition.

Sarault, a 5-foot-11, 184-lb. center, ranked second in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) in scoring in 2012-13 while leading the league in assists. In 68 regular season games with the Sarnia Sting, Sarault scored 22 goals and 86 assists for 108 points. He also captained the club from January through the end of the season. On Mar. 5, the Admirals' NHL parent club, the Anaheim Ducks, signed Sarault to a three-year, entry-level contract.

A native of Fournier, Ontario, Sarault recorded a career-high seven-assist night as part of Sarnia's 13-3 victory over Erie on Feb. 22. It marked the most points by a Sting player all season. The Sting captain strung together a season-best eight-game point streak with five goals and 19 points from Dec. 9, 2012 - Jan. 5, 2013. In addition, the 21-year-old center was named the OHL's Player of the Week for Nov. 26 - Dec. 2 after collecting two goals and eight over three contests. His 23 points (5g, 18a) in 11 contests in December also earned him OHL Player of the Month honors.

In 334 career OHL contests between the Sting and Kingston Frontenacs, Sarault earned 61 goals and 258 points with 127 penalty minutes. In 2011-12, his 67 assists led the OHL, while his 87 points ranked seventh overall. Sarault has also appeared in 21 career OHL Playoff contests, collecting three goals and 11 points with 12 PIM.
