Admirals Sign Goaltender Jeff Deslauriers and Forward Dan Sexton to PTOs

NORFOLK - The Norfolk Admirals have signed goaltender Jeff Deslauriers (deh-LAW-ree-ay) and forward Dan Sexton (SEHKS-tuhn) to Professional Tryout Contracts, Admirals Assistant General Manager Bob Ferguson announced today.

Deslauriers, 6-foot-4, 201-pounds, has appeared in 62 career NHL games between the Anaheim Ducks and Edmonton Oilers, posting a 23-32-4 record with three shutouts, a 3.24 goals-against average (GAA) and .901 save percentage (SV%). Last season, he appeared in four games with Anaheim, going 3-1-0 with a 2.74 GAA and .903 SV%. He also played 16 games with the AHL's Syracuse Crunch, posting a 6-9-0 record with a 3.75 GAA and .881 SV%.

A 28-year-old native of St. Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec, Deslauriers has appeared in 188 career American Hockey League games between the Crunch, Oklahoma City Barons, Springfield Falcons, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, Hamilton Bulldogs and Edmonton RoadRunners. The ninth-year pro has posted an 82-81-14 record with seven shutouts, a 2.88 GAA and .904 SV%. He has also appeared in one Calder Cup Playoff game in 2011 with Oklahoma City. In 17 career ECHL games with the Greenville Grrrowl, Deslauriers posted a 9-7-1 record with one shutout, a 2.56 GAA and .928 SV%.

Originally selected by Edmonton in the second round (31st overall) in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, Deslauriers appeared in 150 career junior games in the QMJHL with the Chicoutimi Sagueneens from 2001-02 through 2003-04.

Sexton, 5-foot-10, 170-pounds, has appeared in 88 career NHL games with the Ducks, scoring 13 goals and 32 points with 20 penalty minutes. He also has appeared in one career Stanley Cup Playoff game with Anaheim in 2011.

Sexton spent the 2011-12 season with the AHL's Syracuse Crunch, netting 13 goals and 43 points with 22 penalty minutes in 71 games. He ranked fourth in scoring and assists (30) with the Crunch in 2011-12.

A 25-year-old native of Apple Valley, Minnesota, Sexton has appeared in 101 career American Hockey League games between the Crunch and Manitoba Moose, scoring 27 goals and 72 points with 28 penalty minutes. He has also appeared in 10 Calder Cup Playoff games, scoring three goals and eight points. In 18 career ECHL games with the Bakersfield Condors, Sexton posted 13 goals and 26 points.

Prior to turning pro, Sexton spent two years playing collegiate hockey at Bowling Green State University, scoring 24 goals and 60 points in 76 games with the Falcons.

An undrafted forward, Sexton was originally signed by Anaheim as a free agent on April 7, 2009. He signed a new two-year deal with the Ducks on July 11, 2011.
