Norfolk Admirals News Release
NORFOLK - Today, Norfolk Admirals head coach Darren Rumble announced that he has named Zenon Konopka team captain for the 2008-09 season. In addition, he has named Brandon Bochenski, Andrew Hutchinson and Wyatt Smith alternate captains.
"Zenon Konopka is a hard-nosed player that leads by example and is not afraid to voice his opinions in the locker room or to hold his teammates accountable," said Rumble. "Wyatt Smith, Brandon Bochenski and Andrew Hutchinson all bring a wealth of experience to the club. They constitute a good core group of voices that will hold everyone accountable in the locker room and on the ice."
Wyatt Smith will serve as a permanent alternate captain. Brandon Bochenski will serve as an alternate captain for home games, while Andrew Hutchinson will assume the duties during road games.
Konopka, Bochenski, Hutchinson and Smith have played a combined 1,649 games in their professional careers. Last season, Konopka served as team captain of the Syracuse Crunch, Hutchinson served as team captain of the Hartford Wolf Pack and Smith served as team captain of the Lake Erie Monsters.
