Admirals Fall to Knights

December 16, 2005 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Milwaukee Admirals News Release

Milwaukee, WI-The Milwaukee Admirals 2-0 loss to the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights was the perfect example of Murphy's Law in effect. With thousands of fans poised to toss teddy bears onto the ice after the first Admirals goal in a donation to Children's Hospital, the Ads were held scoreless for the first time since their home opener and in the process snapped an eight game home winning streak.

Neither club produced many scoring opportunities in the first period and the teams went into the locker room after 20 minutes tied at zero. In the second stanza the Knights picked up the pace and play and the Admirals couldn't respond. Omaha outshot the Ads 15-2 in the second and got all the offense they would need when Tomi Maki beat Milwaukee goaltender Scott Reid at the 5:08 mark.

Milwaukee tried to turn it on in the third with Reid ready to come off in favor of an extra attacker, but the Knights got an odd-man rush and Carsen Germyn sent a wrist shot over Reid's shoulder to put the game out of reach.

In spite of the loss Reid had a stellar night in net for Milwaukee, posting 27 saves and keeping the Admirals in the game. In a relief appearance on Wednesday, Reid stopped seven shots and four of five Omaha shoot-out attempts to pick up his first win as an Admiral.

There is no rest for the weary, as the Ads trek to Chicago to take on the Wolves tomorrow night at 7:00 pm. The Admirals are back at the BC on Sunday to take on the Cleveland Barons at 4:00 pm and the first 3,500 fans 14 and under will receive a piggy bank courtesy of US Bank. For tickets, fans can call Ticketmaster at (414) 276-4545 or log on to www.milwaukeeadmirals.com and click on the tickets button. Groups of ten or more can call the Admirals office at (414) 227-0550.
