Adirondack Thunder News Release

Glens Falls, NY - The Adirondack Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the Calgary Flames, announced today enhancements and upgrades to the fan experience for the 2016-17 season.

Smartphone engagement will be an area of emphasis at Thunder games this season from the time a Thunder patron steps through the doors. The Thunder will offer a daily deal to all fans who sign into the Civic Center's Public Wi-Fi network at games. At all games, fans can submit photos to be featured on the videoboard and can interact with the Thunder on Snapchat. The Thunder are also bringing Hockey Bingo to nine home games in addition to Social Media Scavenger Hunts, to be played during all Sunday home games. Available at every game will be the Thunder Hockey 101 card that can also be accessed through a smartphone at echlthunder.com/fanzone/hockey101 or in print form at the Guest Relations table.

The Thunder will continue the Smashburger First Goal Contest on Facebook and Twitter and introduce the "Chicken Shack Number On Their Back" in-game contest. The Thunder will toss 16 tennis balls into the stands before each game corresponding to a player on the Thunder roster. The fan who catches the tennis ball with the player who scores the Thunder's first goal will win a gift card to the Chicken Shack on Glen St.

"With the influx of state of the art technology the Civic Center is installing this season, we've been able to make our game experience more friendly, fun and exciting than ever," Adirondack Thunder President Brian Petrovek said. "We're excited to offer new and engaging ways to integrate technology into the fan experience to compliment the live performance on the ice."

In-game promotions will be bolstered by Gunnar's new ride, an ATV, sponsored by Sportline Power Products. Intermissions will see new and exciting promotions during the season to compliment the return of youth hockey exhibitions and the Rozell Shot to Win. The Thunder will hold broomball games, sled races and frozen T-Shirt contests on the ice during intermissions. Fans can now use their smartphone to sign up to play one of these games during an intermission in advance or at the game by visiting http://echlthunder.com/fanzone/intermissions.

The Civic Center has installed a new sound system and painted the rafters. The building will also install a new, center-hung video scoreboard from Panasonic, scheduled to be in place for the Thunder's home game on November 22 against Florida. The new scoreboard will be a four-sided, high definition video scoreboard, the first of its kind in Glens Falls. Complementing the scoreboard will be six LED Ribbon Boards, placed above the six portals of the arena.

The Thunder will wear four specialty jerseys during their inaugural season, beginning on its 35th Anniversary Night, Saturday, November 26 as the Thunder host Florida. The Thunder will once again host Military Appreciation Night, presented by U.A. Local 773 on Saturday, December 3, 2016 as the Thunder host Manchester which will feature a live post-game auction with all proceeds benefitting Wounded Warriors. The Thunder will also hold Pink in the Rink, presented by Glens Falls Hospital, on Saturday, February 4 against Norfolk and will donate all proceeds from the post-game jersey sale to the C.R. Wood Cancer Center. The final themed jersey of the season will be held on Saturday, March 11 against Manchester as the Thunder hold Police Officer Appreciation Night. The jersey, sponsored by the Warren & Washington County Sheriff's Offices, will be auctioned off post game with proceeds donated to Special Olympics New York.

The Glens Falls Civic Center will also be including a series of food and beverage upgrades beginning on Opening Night. New machinery and fresh products will highlight the arena's focus on quality food and beverage options. The Thunder and the Civic Center will be introducing local brands, such as Martha's Ice Cream Sandwiches, into Civic Center concession stands to bring more of a community feel to food and beverage. The Hoppy Trails Craft Beer Corner will also feature new and exciting local options from Argyle Brewing Company, Common Roots and Mean Max.

The Thunder will also be keeping several fan favorites in place for the upcoming season. The Jersey of the Night raffle, sponsored by The Rock, will be a fixture at all Thunder home games along with the 50/50, NYSCOPBA T-Shirt Toss, Glens Falls Hospital Trivia Question, Good Move of the Game and the Fans of the Game on the new scoreboard.
