Lethbridge Hurricanes News Release

LETHBRIDGE, AB - The Lethbridge Hurricanes Hockey Club is excited to announce that last year's second overall draft pick from the WHL Bantam Draft, Calen Addison, will be joining the Hurricanes for the remainder of the season.

Addison spent the 2015-2016 season playing in the Manitoba Midget Hockey League (MMHL) with his hometown Brandon Wheat Kings Midget AAA. After recovering from a fractured fibula at the start of the season, Addison returned to play in 15 regular season games where he collected 15 points (8g-7a) along with 42 penalty minutes. In two playoff games, Addison registered two goals and 15 penalty minutes.

Addison and the Wheat Kings AAA were eliminated from the MMHL post-season on Saturday night. The Brandon product has already appeared in two games this season for the Hurricanes.

Along with Addison, Standoff, Alberta product Drayton Thunder Chief has been called up to the Hurricanes after his Hurricanes AAA team was eliminated. Thunder Chief made his WHL debut last Saturday recording one assist in an 8-4 win over the Edmonton Oil Kings.

In 24 games with the Hurricanes Midget AAA, Thunder Chief recorded five points (2g-3a) along with 57 penalty minutes.

Thunder Chief, who was not selected in the Bantam Draft, was listed and signed by the Hurricanes.

In addition, the Hurricanes second round draft pick from the 2015 Bantam Draft, Josh Tarzwell and his team, the Red Deer Chiefs Midget AAA, have been eliminated from the post-season and may join the Hurricanes following the clubs current Saskatchewan road trip. In 32 regular season games this year, Tarzwell scored 18 points (9g-9a) along with 14 penalty minutes. He made his WHL debut with the Hurricanes earlier this season.
