Aces Rout Bulls 6-2 to Finish off Sweep

Six different Alaska Aces scored as the Aces completed a three game sweep of the San Francisco Bulls with a 6-2 win on Saturday night from the Cow Palace in San Francisco, CA. The Aces bettered their league-leading record to 46-12-6. Alaska also tied a club record with their sixth straight road win. They now have points in their last 11 games away from Alaska - one shy of the club record set last year. The Aces increased their lead to 13 points over Idaho for the Mountain Division lead and remain eight points ahead Ontario for the most points in the ECHL. The Aces return for one final home series on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday when they welcome the Idaho Steelheads. The Aces opened the scoring at 6:37 when Nick Mazzolini scored on a rebound after Evan Trupp hist the crossbar from the slot. Mazzolini's goal extended his point streak to six games, and was his team-leading 34th of the season. Just over a minute later Peter Sivak tied the game for San Francisco with his 28th goal of the year at 7:58. Alaska regained the lead in the closing seconds of the period. The Aces won an offensive zone face-off, while on a power play, and quickly moved the puck to Sean Curry who blistered a one-timer past Taylor Nelson with 5.2 seconds remaining in the period. Alaska took a 2-1 lead into the first intermission and outshot the Bulls 15-6 in the frame.
Kory Falite tied the game at 4:50 of the second period with his first goal with the Bulls. However, the Aces ran away with the game after that. Alaska scored three times in less than eight minutes to take control. Alex Hudson scored on a rebound at 7:51 to extend his goal scoring streak to four games. Tommy Mele then tallied a power play goal at 10:09 to make it 4-2 Aces. Trupp completed the flurry when his wrist shot bounced off of Nelson's glove ant into the net for Trupp's first goal with the Aces. Alaska took a 5-2 lead into the third period, despite being outshot 11-10 in the period.
Garry Nunn became the sixth Ace to score finishing off a give-and-go with Trupp at 10:18 to complete the 6-2 win. Trupp and Curry each had three point nights to lead the Aces.
Mark Guggenberger (24-7-5) made 24 saves on 26 shots earning the win. Taylor Nelson (8-16-4) made 25 saves on 31 shots, while taking the loss. The Aces went 2-3 on the power play and the Bulls were 0-3. Alaska outshot San Francisco 31-26 in the game.
