Alaska Aces News Release

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Six different players scored a goal, headlined by defenseman Corey Syvret's two points and +4 rating to help the Alaska Aces steamroll the Cincinnati Cyclones in a 6-4 victory before 3,598 fans in the preseason finale Wednesday at Sullivan Arena.

The Aces, who earned a two-game split with the Cyclones, never trailed the entire game and torched Cyclones goaltender Rob Madore for three goals in a 1:36 span in the opening period.

Ross Ring-Jarvi's first goal of the preseason put Alaska up 1-0 when he beat Madore to the blocker side with a wrist shot off the rush at 12:27 of the first period.

Evan Trupp followed by picking the corner on a rebound at the right post with 6:47 left and Robert Farmer tucked his first goal of the preseason around Madore's skate just 50 seconds later for a 3-0 lead, prompting a timeout on the Cincinnati bench.

The Cyclones responded with back to back goals early in the second period, beginning with a dump-in from center ice at 2:42 credited to Dan Eves, which trickled off Mark Guggenberger's pads.

Barry Almeida then finished Josh Birkholz's feed, getting behind the defense and tucking a backhander 1:59 later to cut the deficit to one goal.

Syvret extended the lead back to two goals when he snuck a wrist shot through a screen with 8:34 left in the period.

Following a disallowed goal, Andy Taranto immediately responded by firing a wrist shot off an end zone faceoff just 2:17 into the third period for a 5-2 cushion. Spencer Bennett then expanded the Aces bulge to 6-2 at 3:15 when he hammered a shot past Madore from the left circle.

With the game already academic, Cincinnati drew to 6-4 when Almeida collected his second goal of the game with 6:36 left and McFadden added a converted one-timer from the right circle 1:49 later.

NOTES: Guggenberger earned the win with 21 saves ... scratches for the game included Nick Mazzolini, Kane Lafranchise and Zach Davies, who rested after suiting up in Tuesday's preseason opener ... Alaska outshot Cincinnati, 26-25 ... the Aces wore pink jerseys and skated on pink colored ice in recognition of their "Paint the Rink Pink" event, designed to help raise funds in the fight against breast cancer.
