Alaska Aces News Release

BOISE, IDAHO - The Alaska Aces scored on the powerplay, while shorthanded, in a 4 on 4 situation and while at full strength 5 on 5 in a 6-1 conquest of the Idaho Steelheads Wednesday at the Century Link Arena.

Idaho got things going scoring-wise as Andre-Bouvet Morrissette reeled in a pass from Emil Molin in the left circle and rifled a shot top shelf, glove side of Alaska goaltender Troy Redmann for his 7th goal of the season at 16:44. Rob Linsmayer also received an assist on the play.

The Aces showed great pushback with two goals inside the last two minutes of the period.

Newly acquired forward Ryan Tesink, who arrived in Boise earlier in the day, snapped home a shot from the slot past Idaho netminder Jack Campbell, assisted by Justin Breton at 18:18. Then, with just 31.7 seconds to go in the period, William Wrenn sent a shot from the right point through traffic. It deflected off an Idaho defenseman and into the net for his 3rd goal of the season. Patrick Wellar and Peter Sivak got credit for helpers on the play.

In the second period, the Aces increased their lead with an excellent powerplay. With Idaho's Carson McMillan off on a major boarding penalty, William Wrenn wristed home a snipe from the slot, his second goal of the game and fourth goal of the season at 5:16. Assists to Sivak and Tim Coffman. Then with the Steelheads' Kyle Jean off on a double-minor, Coffman redirected a Colin Valcourt centering pass at 13:37 through the pads of Campbell. It was Coffman's 15th goal of the season, tying him for the team lead with Justin Breton.

Also, late in the second period, Redmann stopped Brandon Trook on a penalty shot opportunity after Trook got in deep and was hooked.

In the third, Alaska popped in a couple more. Stephen Perfetto scored in a 4 on 4 situation, his 9th goal of the season at 3:05...Patrick Wellar and Justin Breton scored assists. The Aces finished the scoring with Peter Sivak's breakaway backhand, short-handed at 17:11. The goal was unassisted.

Redmann finished with 24 saves for the Aces, Campbell stopped 22 shots for the Steelheads.

The two teams will meet again Friday and Saturday nights at the CenturyLink Arena in downtown Boise.

The Aces return to the Sullivan Arena to face the defending ECHL champion Allen Americans at the Sullivan Arena February 10, 12 and 13. It will be Aces Hall of Fame weekend.
