Reno Aces News Release

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah-Brad Snyder extended his season hitting streak to eight games, but the Aces fell 6-4 against the Salt Lake Bees on Thursday night in the finale of a four-game series, and an eight game road trip.

With the loss, the Aces fell to 3-5 on the season, while the Bees advanced to 6-2.

A two-RBI double by Kila Ka'aihue gave Reno a 2-0 lead in the top of the first, but the Bees countered with four runs of their own in the bottom of the frame. Salt Lake catcher Chris Snyder went 4-for-4 on the night, with five RBI and two runs scored. His three-run homer in the first inning gave the Bees their first lead of the game, 4-2.

Chris Snyder continued to fuel the Salt Lake offense, adding a solo shot to left field in the fourth to extend the Bees' lead to 5-2.

Brad Snyder's single in the sixth, sandwiched between singles by Ka'aihue and Tyler Bortnick, ensured he had at least one hit in each of the Aces first eight games of the season. Ed Easley singled to drive home Ka'aihue and Brad Snyder, bringing Reno within one, down 5-4.

Salt Lake's Chris Snyder again came to the aid of his team in the seventh, plating Luis Jimenez for an insurance run to bring the final score to 6-4.

Reno RHP Chase Anderson was charged with the loss in his second-straight start of the season. Anderson gave up five runs-all earned-on seven hits across 6.0 innings. He recorded nine strikeouts on the night.

RHP Billy Buckner earned the win for Salt Lake, giving up four runs on 7 hits through 5.2 innings. Reliever Mitch Stetter, who came on to retire the last Aces batter in the ninth, was credited with a save.

The Aces return to Aces Ballpark for their first homestand of the season on Friday, with two, four-game series against the Sacramento River Cats and the Colorado Springs Sky Sox. RHP Charles Brewer (0-0, 1.50 ERA) gets the nod for Reno, while the River Cats will counter with LHP Justin Thomas (0-1, 3.38 ERA). First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m. PT. The night will be highlighted by a magnet schedule giveaway for 9,000 lucky fans, as well as the first Saint Mary's Fireworks Friday presented by KRNV News 4 with fireworks immediately following the game.
