Aces Cruise to 11-3 Win Over Omaha

RENO, Nev.- Brandon Allen belted two home runs, and the Reno Aces scored in each of the first five innings Thursday night, as the Aces cruised to an 11-3 win over the Omaha Storm Chasers at Aces Ballpark.
Allen hit an opposite field two-run shot in the first and followed it up with a solo shot to right in the fourth, helping stake Reno to an eight-run lead after five innings. Cody Ransom also went deep for the Aces, who scored more than 10 runs for the 10th time this season.
Zach Kroenke (4-0) maintained his perfect record, holding Omaha to three runs on six hits over five innings. Daniel Stange, Jordan Norberto and Kam Mickolio tossed four combined innings of relief to seal the win.
Storm Chasers starter Kevin Pucetas (3-1) suffered his first loss of the season, as he was tagged for eight runs-six earned-over three innings.
Allen finished 3-for-4 with three RBIs, while Cole Gillespie added two hits and drove in three runs as well. Evan Frey and Andy Tracy also recorded multi-hit games for Reno, which outhit Omaha 12-6 on the evening.
During Thursday's game, the Aces auctioned off their special game-worn Irish eNVy green and white jerseys, raising nearly $5,000 for the Reno Aces Foundation.
Omaha and the first-place Aces conclude the series Friday night at Aces Ballpark, with Aces LHP Tom Layne (3-1, 6.41 ERA) set to face Omaha LHP Danny Duffy (3-0, 2.25 ERA). First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. PT, and is Saint Mary's Fireworks Friday presented by KRNV News 4, with fireworks immediately following the game.
