Reno Aces News Release

RENO, NV - Reno batters combined for 10 hits on the night, but the Aces were unable to push across a run in a 7-0 loss to the series finale against the Las Vegas 51's on Friday night at Cashman Field.

The game marked Reno's third shutout loss of the season, all coming within the last 12 contests. Despite losing by a seven run margin, Aces batters recorded three more hits than Las Vegas.

Ed Easley's double to lead off the fifth was Reno's only extra-base hit of the game.

With a single in his first at-bat, Chris Owings extended his overall hitting streak to 19 games. The stretch marks the best active streak in all of professional baseball. Owings and Easley each went 3x4 on the night.

RHP Charles Brewer was roughed up from the beginning, with the 51's jumping on the board with a pair of runs in the first inning. A five run fifth, including a grand slam off the bat of Jamie Hoffman, extended the Las Vegas lead.

Brewer was charged with his fifth loss of the season, giving up seven earned runs on six hits through 4.2 innings pitched, while walking five and striking out three. Relievers Warner Madrigal and Eury De La Rosa combined to shutout the 51's over the final 3.1 innings, allowing just a hit and a walk while striking out five.

RHP DJ Mitchell earned his second win of the season, with the first win also coming against Reno earlier this season at Aces Ballpark. Mitchell did not allow a run on six hits over 6.0 innings, while walking five and striking out one.

The Aces return to Aces Ballpark tomorrow to begin a set of 12 home games in 13 days, starting with a four-game series against the Tucson Padres. LHP Tyler Skaggs (4-5, 5.23 ERA) gets the nod for Reno, while Tucson will counter with LHP Robbie Erlin (4-0, 3.79 ERA). First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. PT, and 2,000 lucky fans in attendance will receive a baseball card set giveaway presented by Northern Nevada Dairymen, featuring 2013 Reno Aces players and field staff.

Tickets are on sale for the upcoming homestand, and all Aces home games, at RenoAces.com, by calling (775) 334-7000 or by visiting the Aces Ballpark Ticket Office.
