Chicago Steel News Release

YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO - The Chicago Steel (9-2-1-1, 20 pts.) overcame a 3-1 deficit to force overtime, but fell 4-3 to the Youngstown Phantoms Saturday night at Covelli Centre. Midway through the extra session, Max Ellis banked in his own rebound off Chicago netminder Oskar Autio, scoring his second goal of the night to secure the victory for the Phantoms (6-5-2-1, 15 pts.).

For only the third time in 13 games this season, Chicago's opponent scored the first. At 14:03 of the first period, forward Alex Barber gave the Phantoms a 1-0 lead with a wrist shot from the high slot for his first career USHL goal.

Just 15 seconds into the middle frame, Steel center Baker Shore tied the game at one with a backhander from the top of the Youngstown crease. The tally was the Englewood, Colo., native's seventh goal of the year.

Just over a minute later, the Phantoms reclaimed the lead with a tip from the top of the crease by forward Tommy Parrottino, redirecting a shot from the point from Barber at 1:33.

Youngstown extended its lead at 8:12 with a shorthanded breakaway goal from Ellis after forcing a turnover at the Steel's offensive zone blue line. The Phantoms forward capitalized by getting the puck past Autio's left pad for his second goal of the year.

Just 37 seconds later, defenseman Robbie Stucker netted his second tally of the year, receiving the puck back on a give-and-go with Jordan Seyfert and jamming the puck home from the top of the crease to cut the Phantoms' lead to 3-2.

The Steel were able to tie the game up at three at 14:01 of the third period. Jack Dugan led a 2-on-1 rush up the ice with forward Blake McLaughlin. Dugan put on the brakes in the right circle and fired a shot on net. Youngstown's Ivan Prosvetov made the initial save, but McLaughlin drove the net and put home the rebound, sending the game to overtime.

In the extra frame, Ellis' shot from the right circle was initially stopped by Autio's left arm. The rebound fell below the goal line and Ellis managed to bounce the puck in off Autio's back for the game-winning marker at 2:41.

Chicago outshot Youngstown by a 27-24 margin. In a penalty-filled contest, neither team lit the lamp on the power play (Chicago 0-for-4; Youngstown 0-for-3).

Chicago's returns home Friday, Nov. 24 at 7:05 p.m. against the Lincoln Stars. It's Superhero Night and a Meijer Kids Day; children 12 and under can receive an Attack Preferred ticket, popcorn, Steel light-up wand and post-game autographs, all for just $10.
