HAMILTON, ONTARIO. The Bulldogs got back in the win column Saturday afternoon with a 5-2 victory in Ottawa moving Hamilton back into 1st place in the East Division and into sole possession of 1st place atop the Eastern Conference standings.
The Bulldogs got off to fast start in this one as Will Bitten (4) took a pass at the 15-second mark and got off a quick shot to make it 1-0. Matthew Strome (10) made it 2-0 at 6:52 before Ottawa got on the board at 10:01 to cut the deficit to 2-1. Marian Studenic (6) tipped a point-shot home for a power-play goal at 17:47 to give the Bulldogs a 3-1 lead after the 1st period.
Ottawa cut Hamilton's lead to 3-2 with a goal at 4:30 of the 2nd period, but the Bulldogs capitalized on the power-play at 14:38 as Matthew Stome (11) banged home a rebound to make it 4-2 at the end of 2.
Hamilton scored the only goal of the 3rd period as Arthur Kaliyev (8) made the final 5-2.
