Quad City Mallards News Release


Last night's game between the host Mallards and Tulsa Oilers was suspended with 12:08 left in the second period because Tulsa coach Rob Murray required medical attention. Per the Oilers, Murray was suffering from dehydration and exhaustion and spent the night in the hospital.

Suspended Game

The Mallards trailed the Oilers 2-1 when last night's game was halted. The remainder of the suspended game will be played on a date to be determined.

Last Night

The Mallards last night battled back to within a goal after falling behind 2-0. Joey Sides scored the first goal of the game at 2:20 of the first period and Dmitry Sergeev doubled the Oiler lead at 4:10 of the second period only for Brayden Low to cut the gap to one just 16 seconds later.

Back-to-Back

Tonight's game is the first of two in 24 hours between the Mallards and Mavericks, who will meet again tomorrow at 4:05 p.m. at the TaxSlayer Center.

Busy

Tonight's game is the second of three scheduled for a 48-hour period for the Mallards.

Home Cooking

The Mallards today continue a four-game homestand that started with last night's suspended game. The Mallards will play their thirteenth scheduled home game out of sixteen overall when they close out the homestand next Friday against the Wichita Thunder.

Home Sweet Home

The Mallards have won five of their last six completed home games.

On the Road

The Mallards lost their last completed game 5-2 to the Cyclones in Cincinnati Tuesday. The Mallards have gone 0-3-0 on the road this season.

Warning Sign

Sam Warning (10-2-12) is tied for third in the ECHL in goals. He has recorded four points (three goals and one assist) in the Mallards' last three completed games and has scored seven goals their last eight completed games.

Streak

Low last night extended his point-scoring streak to a team season best five games (4-1-5) by scoring for the fourth time in those five games.

Double Dip

Tristan King assisted on both Mallard goals Tuesday and has notched four points (one goal and three assists) in the Mallards' last three completed games.

Firsts

Tuesday saw Tyler Wong score his first Mallard goal and Kyle Follmer score his first goal of the season.

Between the Pipes

Ivan Kulbakov made 16 saves last night while making his tenth straight start. Tuesday, in his last completed start, he made 20 saves in the Mallards' setback in Cincinnati. Kulbakov leads the ECHL in saves (335), ranks second in minutes played (580) and is tied for second in wins (6). The statistics accumulated by Kulbakov during last night's game have not yet been officially added to his totals.

Milestones

King has 94 career goals...Garrett Klotz has 976 career regular season penalty minutes.

Special Teams

Neither the Mallards nor the Oilers went on the power play before last night's game was suspended. The Mallards scored both of their goals on the power play Tuesday (on five opportunities) and now rank twentieth in the ECHL on the power play (14.9 percent). The Mallards, who have emerged for ten of their foes' last eleven power plays unscathed, rank fourteenth in the league in penalty killing (82.9 percent).

Head to Head

The Mallards and Mavericks tonight kick off a six-game season series. The Mallards went 7-3-0 against the Mavericks last season and won all five of their home games against the Mavs. All-time the Mallards have gone 30-30-7 against the Mavericks overall and 14-11-5 at home.
